If, when you receive your bottle Crusoe Treasure, it is more opaqueand covered in encrustations, it is because it has spent time in a more sheltered area, surrounded by relative calm, where the small fish that inhabit the winery reef take refuge.
If you receive a cleaner bottle, it is because it has spent time in a wild location, exposed to the force of the Cantábrico Sea, which erodes it with such strength and intensity that deposits are less likely to form. There, only the strongest can survive and improve.
The fact is that each bottle of wine Crusoe Treasure tells its own story. Each bottle is unique because of its underwater ageing process. No two are alike. And for us, this is precisely what gives our treasures their value.
Where our wines are aged
Our underwater winery reef is located in Plentzia Bay, in a site chosen exclusively to achieve the finest evolution of our wines beneath the sea.
The winery reef, formed from steel and concrete structures—materials that helped create a home for many species—is located 20 metres below the surface, in an area with strong currents and tides.
This refuge for the area’s marine fauna and flora forms a habitat across the winery’s outer surface and interior spaces, accompanying the wine bottles, which remain in contact with seawater and all its energy throughout their underwater process. Each bottle is placed in a different area of the winery reef, living its own story.
Every wine is unique.
And regardless of its location, what we have confirmed is that the wines Crusoe Treasure achieve their fullest evolutionary expression during their underwater ageing process.
